The Assiniboia Southern Rebels two-game winning streak came to an end on Monday night on home ice as they lost 4-3 to the Ochapowace Thunder.

The game was tied 3-3 heading into the third, but Ochapowace got the go ahead goal on a power play marker by Lenny Keshane and held off a late surge from the Rebels for the win.

Moose Jaw's Mitch Holick opened the scoring for the Rebels just over seven minutes into the game, but the Thunder responded 17 seconds later with a goal from Ron Cote.  They would two more goals, from Kevin George and Keshane, to take a 3-1 lead heading into the second.

The Rebels came out firing in the second period, pelting the Ochapowace goal with 20 shots in the frame as they tried to responded after a tough end to the first.

A power play goal by Bryton Beattie, another Moose Jaw native, pulled the Rebels within one midway through the second and Holick tied the game up with just nine seconds remaining in the second period.

After Keshane gave the Thunder the lead midway through the third, the Rebels couldn't responded as their record dropped to 12-4-1 on the year.

Assiniboia outshot Ochapowace 47-26 in the game, but had trouble beating goalie Kamil Przepiorka.

Next action for the Rebels is on Wednesday when they head to Pilot Butte to take on the Storm.
