The Moose Jaw Regals hit the field at Ross Wells Park on Thursday night for a doubleheader with the Regina Angels.

Moose Jaw walked away with a split of the double-bill, falling 14-13 in the first game and then winning 9-7 in the second game.

The Regals will be back in action next weekend when they travel into Regina for the Baseball Saskatchewan Junior AAA Championship.

Angels 14 Regals 13

It took a while for the Regals to get their bats rolling, but once they started rolling they were able to make it a game.

The Angels put up three runs in the first inning and Moose Jaw fell behind 12-4 after five innings, but proceeded to score two in the sixth and seven in the seventh before their rally came up just short in the end.

Designated hitter Wyatt Riendeau went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the loss, while first baseman Tanner Fritzke was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

Centre fielder Matt Evans finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI.

After recording just one hit in the first three innings, the Regals ended up 13 hits in the game.

On the mound, Kaleb Wilson went 3+ innings allowing five runs on five hits with one strikeout. Kyle Wilson came on and surrendered nine runs on nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts over the final four innings.

Regals 9 Angels 7

The second game of the doubleheader played out similar to the first one with the Regals struggling to get going early, but turning it on for a big finish.

The only difference this time around was that Moose Jaw completed the comeback for the win.

Riendeau again led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, including two in the three-run sixth inning to put Moose Jaw in front.

Catcher Jordan Logan was 2-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and an RBI out of the lead-off spot, while Evans was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Regals fell behind 2-1 after one and 6-1 after two, but starting pitcher Chris Cooper settled in after that as he went five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits. Only two of those hits came after the second inning.

Cooper struck out three and walked three in the no-decision.

Riendeau came on to pitch after that and continued to keep the Angels in check, giving up one run on two hits over two innings. He struck out three and walked one.
