The celebrations began last night and will continue through the next few days as the Saskatchewan Roughriders captured their first Grey Cup in 12 years, beating the Montreal Alouettes 25-17 last night in the CFL Championship.

The team has two events planned for the public to celebrate with the team. The Championship Parade is scheduled for tomorrow, while a 'Glimpse of the Cup' is set for this afternoon.

Glimpse of the Cup

Fans are invited to a 'Glimpse of the Cup' this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium's SaskTel Gate 3. In a prepared release, the team says, "It’s a short, free celebration to welcome the team home and celebrate with Rider Nation. Fans will hear from players and coaches, and see the Grey Cup."

The program is expected to run between 20 and 30 minutes.

Fans are being asked not to wait for the Roughriders at Regina International Airport as "the Roughriders do not deplane through the airport terminal at the Regina International Airport, so fans first opportunity to greet the team will be at the Stadium – not to worry, we are headed straight there after we land!"

There will not be a formal autograph session at the event today.

Championship Parade

The main event, the official Championship Parade, is set for tomorrow (Tuesday, November 18).

"Beginning at 2 p.m. the whole team will parade down Albert Street in vehicles driven by the Royal Canadian Armed Forces culminating with a special ceremony complete with speeches from Head Coach Corey Mace, our Grey Cup MVP and Quarterback Trevor Harris," said the team in a prepared release.

Fans are being asked to line the "Green Mile" (Albert Street) at 13th Avenue down to 20th Avenue ahead of the parade beginning at 2 p.m.. Fans are asked to avoid Victoria Ave due to congestion.

The 'celebration program' is set to begin at 3 p.m. on the steps of the Legislature, and will last about an hour.

There will be no parking available at the Legislature, and select roads will be closed from 1:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to accommodate the celebrations.

Mild forecast

The forecast for Regina this afternoon is calling for increasing cloud with a high of four. Tomorrow, for the Championship Parade, Environment and Climate Change Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of five.

Fans are reminded to dress for the weather.
