For many, Christmas is a time to remember the less fortunate, but for Riverside Mission, it's a year-round affair.

The downtown Moose Jaw mission is having it's annual Christmas dinner tonight and they have a lot to celebrate.

"We have a freezer full of food, we have every evening (during the holidays) booked with volunteers coming in to serve" says Executive Director Scott Elger. This year saw them add new freezer, which is helping them to be able to stock up on many food items.

It's so much, in fact, that they are looking to add another night of meals to their schedule. Currently they serve dinner every weekday except for Tuesday, something Elger would like to see change.

"We need to work out some of the logistics, but we've got that large freezer we built and it's full of food that this generous community continually give to us, so now we need to make sure we have that other meal going out" Elger said. "So then we will have reached our goal of offering a meal every night, (Monday to Friday)."

Elger hopes to start serving the Tuesday meal sometime in February, if donations continue as they have.

He is also very grateful for the support of the community and realizes that they wouldn't be able to help as many people as they do without the support of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.
