The Western Hockey League is back at the Moose Jaw Events Centre as the Moose Jaw Warriors are gearing up for their pre-season opener on Friday night against the Swift Current Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Fans are reminded that season tickets are available for pick up at the box office from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Leading up to their pre-season opener the Warriors signed Landen McFadden, Ethan Hughes, and Jonah Tonhauser to WHL standard player agreements. 

More hockey is to be played at the big rink downtown on Sunday. The U18 AAA Warriors will be taking on Swift Current Legionaries in their pre-season home opener at 7:00 p.m. Game tickets are now on sale at Sasktix.ca. Sticking with the AAA Warriors, they are putting a call out for those interested golfers to take part in their annual golf tournament on Sept 30 at the hillcrest. Gutheridge Field this weekend is the place to be for high school football as Vanier, Central, and Peacock are all in action. Peacock will host Central Collegiate at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, followed by Vanier trying to rebound from last weekend's loss as they are hosting Swift Current at 3:15 p.m.

Friday night football returns for week 14 in the CFL as the BC Lions are traveling to Montreal to take on the Alouettes. The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be part of three games on Saturday, the riders are in Winnipeg for a rematch of last weekend's Labour Day Classic loss in the Banjo Bowl against the Blue Bombers at 3:00 p.m. In the other two games, Toronto will be in Ottawa and Calgary is on the road in Edmonton. 

The Toronto Blue Jays will try to extend their 4.5-game lead in the American League Wildcard as they are in Arlington on Friday night to begin a weekend series with the Texas Rangers.
