Between midnight and 3:30 a.m last night, the Moose Jaw Police received three separate calls about a total of four storage bay break-ins.

Storage locker thefts becoming more prominent in Moose Jaw.

At least two of the storage bays were entered after the locks were cut. Sgt. Kevin Pilsworth with the Moose Jaw Police service said they've been seeing a gradual increase of these types of break-and-enters and the best thing you can do to prevent it is to make sure there's a high-quality lock on your bay.

"A lot of these storage companies do leave the onus on the person that's renting it," said Pilsworth. "So in that case, it's really important that you select and purchase a high-quality lock that's not easily tampered with and that's not easily defeated."

Other than that, Pilsworth said that it might also help to check-in on your storage periodically, or have someone do it for you.

"Or make arrangements with the storage company to make some regular checks. Some of the storage companies will do that as well."

Items stolen range, said Pilsworth, from equipment to furniture and anything else that might possibly be stored long-term.

"Whatever you can dream that people own go into those storage bays."
