The worst has passed for Moose Jaw.  A severe thunderstorm made its way through the province Friday afternoon and arrived in the Friendly City just before 4 o'clock.

It was mostly high winds and a bit of rain in the city, but to the north it was much more intense with reports of tornadoes touching down near Brownlee and Marquis.

Darren was driving from Moose Jaw to his home in Brownlee when he saw a tornado touch down, "What happened was it was coming down, then it started to go back up and look like it was going to dissipate and then it split into two.  The smaller one came down, hit the ground, went back up and reformed into a big one and started heading down."

As of 6pm on Friday, Tornado warnings remain in effect for the East-Central portion of the province, but Environment Canada expects them to end once the storm moves out of the province.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Bill McMurtry says the worst of that storm has passed, but says we could see more later Friday evening, "The line of the significant, severe thunderstorms is to the north and moving in a northeast direction of Moose Jaw.  There is a possibility of overnight a thunderstorm moving in from Montana."
