With many winter sports heading into their offseason, now is the time to start thinking about getting ready for next season.

Team Redgoat Training Centre is hosting a Strength and Conditioning Seminar coming up next weekend with expert advice from their trainers.

"It's centred around strength and conditioning and some of the different elements that go into proper athletic preparation," said Matt Sheridan, a trainer with Ignite Athletic Conditioning Moose Jaw.

During the seminar, trainers from Ignite, Team Redgoat High Performance, Unparalleled Performance and Competitive Will will provide information on some of the programs, classes and training methods that they offer.

"We've got a variety of different options that work out of the facility," said Sheridan. "Ryan and Rhaea Stinn, powerlifters, run their Unparalleled Performance, we run our Ignite Conditioning out of there, Team Redgoat has a competitive kettlebell club that is run out of there as well, and we have some sports psychology with CompetitiveWill.com."

The seminar isn't just for high end athletes as Sheridan said they have training options for everyone from athletes looking for that extra edge to anyone just looking to improve their training.

"We want to focus on sport specific and athletic strength and conditioning, we'll go over some of the basic concepts, myths and talk about we do," said Sheridan. "We'll have Kyle from Competitive Will to talk about sports psychology, which is one of those areas of preparation that gets overlooked and then we'll talk about nutrition, we'll give a framework and knowledge about proper nutrition is from a sport and athletic perspective."

The seminar is being offered free of charge and it will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 14. at the Team Redgoat Training Centre. You can register by calling 306-692-3280 or emailing teamredgoat@yahoo.ca.
