After having to close their doors for the entirety of 2020, the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum will be opening their doors at the beginning of June.

Board Member, Garry Davis.

"We're doing a bit of a soft opening on June 3 then onwards Thursdays though Sundays."

The museum is located just 13km south of Moose Jaw on Highway 2 and has enough to see that it could take a whole afternoon to check out every aspect.

"The one comment we always get from people is that there's way more to see here than they thought," says Davis, "It takes at least a couple of hours to walk through and pass by and take a quick look at everything. We have a full pioneer village, plus we have several buildings full of cars, trucks, tractors, there's so much more here than people realize."

Davis says that there will be quite a bit of cleaning that has to be done between now and then, as a lot of dust and dirt has most likely settled in the buildings after being closed for over a year. He's confident however that his team will be able to get it all done. He did mention though that if you are interested in helping with any aspect of the museum, they are looking for volunteers.

"If there are any people in the city who like old things and like to work around places like that, we're always looking for volunteers to come to help us out."

If you are interested in volunteering with the museum, you can email beth.davis@sasktel.net, or gordross@sasktel.net.
