A late morning commotion on the east side of the city activated emergency personnel to start off the May long weekend.

Initially, reports surfaced that a SWAT team had been deployed in Moose Jaw on Saturday morning, specifically, on the 600 block and 1000 block of Ominica St. East.

The road was blocked off on either end of each residential street, and those in the area were told to avoid that part of the city for the safety of the public.

In conjunction with the Regina Police Service, the local department has confirmed its involvement in a situation that quickly developed on Friday evening.

Police from the Queen City responded to multiple calls involving firearms and tracked a suspect vehicle to Moose Jaw.

Then, the Moose Jaw Police and Regina Police services, including SWAT and K-9 teams, cleared two Moose Jaw residences in what was described as a "high-risk situation".

This dynamic matter is still under investigation and further information will be released as it is available.

The Moose Jaw Police Service would like to thank the public for their cooperation in ensuring a safe conclusion to this incident.
