Local hockey fans all have a story or two about "The Rivalry".  The Moose Jaw / Regina rivalry.  It goes back to the beginning decades ago - junior and senior hockey.  We're always the underdog even when we have the better team.  You see, Regina's the Queen City - the provincial capital.  We're just the little Friendly City in the Moose Jaw River valley.  It's always "us against them".

I can remember bench-clearing brawls back in the 70s featuring our Moose Jaw Canucks and the Regina Pat Blues.  The fighting would spread into the stands, onto the concourse and into the parking lot at the old Civic Centre.  It got ugly.  And that was back when we had local boys on those teams.

The fact is, nowadays, we fans take the rivalry much more seriously than the players.  Most of them did not grow up around here so they don't have the rivalry in their frame of reference.  What opens their eyes to it is when we fill the stands and show a little enthusiasm.

Tonight at our Mosaic Place it's the Warriors vs. THE Pats.  Moose Jaw takes on Regina.  Us against them.  See ya tonight?
