Though Canada is seeing some good news in parts of the country, experts say that social distancing measures will need to stick around for weeks and months to come.

Canada now has over 27,500 cases of COVID-19 and 954 deaths.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave his daily address this morning and announced changes to the CERB.

"Today we're announcing more help for more Canadians. Topping up the pay for essential workers. At the same time we are also expanding the Canada Emergency Response Benefit to reach people who are earning some income, seasonal workers facing no job, and those who had their EI run out recently."

Trudeau also talked about what he called the greatest generation, referencing people who grew up in the great depression and fought in the 2nd world war.

"Across the country the last members of this generation live in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. The uncomfortable and tragic truth is that the very places that care for our elderly are the most vulnerable to COVID-19. We all need to do better, we all need to take care of the seniors who built this country."

Trudeau added that he will be addressing the growing concern about seniors in long term care facilities tomorrow night with premiers.
