The Government of Saskatchewan announced late Friday afternoon that QR codes have been temporarily removed from COVID-19 vaccination records.

The move was made after the Government was alerted to an issue downloading patient QR codes. As a result, all QR codes are being temporarily removed from citizens' COVID-19 vaccination records through MySaskHealthRecord.

QR codes will not be issued with vaccination certificates again until early next week.

Residents trying to view their record through MySaskHealthRecord will be unable to until Saturday, which is when you will again be able to download or print your proof of vaccination record.

According to the release, the vaccination records of up to 19 residents have the potential to display other residents' QR codes.

Anyone who has already downloaded, captured or printed their QR code is asked to delete or destroy them, as the code will be made invalid. You are also asked to contact eHealth Saskatchewan's Privacy Officer if you have noticed another individual's name appear when your QR code is scanned. If that is the case, you can email privacyandaccess@eHealthSask.ca.

"We are working closely with our vendor to investigate and resolve any issues and prevent other problems," eHealth Saskatchewan Vice President of Programs and Technology Davin Church said. "We understand the high demand in Saskatchewan for records to meet proof of vaccination requirements."

Though the QR code may be out of commission for a few days, there are still other options available which you can use as proof of vaccination, including:

  • The wallet card or earlier version of your MySaskHealthRecord COVID-19 vaccine certificate, or
  • COVID-19 vaccine printout from Saskatchewan Health Authority Public Health.

The individual whose name and information has been erroneously captured has been contacted. The Office of the Information and Privacy Officer of Saskatchewan has been made aware of this issue.
