Val Gorin (nee Hutchinson)

November 9, 1953 – January 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Val Gorin of Indian Head after a brief illness.

Val was born and raised in Moose Jaw, into a busy family, the third of five siblings. In high school, not to be outdone by the boys, Val enjoyed playing competitive sports including baseball and softball. This love of sports continued into her dedication as a Riders fan, cheering for them through thick and thin.

Val’s compassionate spirit led her into a career as a nurturing caregiver, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse and later a Registered Nurse at the Regina SIAAS campus. She practiced nursing at the Indian Head Union Hospital for most of her career.

Val was predeceased by her dad Allen Hutchinson (1996); her mom Shirley Chilson (2023) and her brother Blaine Hutchinson (2020). Val leaves behind her loving husband, Allan of 47 years and three sons: Daniel (Sonja), Nathan (Kristine) and Joshua. Val’s four grandchildren were her greatest treasures: Sofia, Juliana, Hannah and Remi. Val also leaves behind sisters Deborah (Garry) Freeman and Peggy Hutchinson; brother Kerry (Anita) Hutchinson; loving sisters and brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.

Val was a gal with a contagious smile, a large sweet tooth and stories that would make you laugh until your sides hurt. She had endless creative energy, doing just about everything from sewing Halloween costumes, to pottery, painting, making patio furniture and custom-made greeting cards. She was always on the lookout for new craft ideas.

She will be remembered for her fun-loving personality, nurturing attitude and generosity.

The family wishes to the thank the staff at Indian Head Union Hospital, Dr. Zimmerman and the Golden Prairie Home for their loving care of Val.

The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Indian Head, Saskatchewan on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Francis Hengen.
