The Saskatchewan Health Authority will be setting up a number of COVID-19 drive-thru and walk-in vaccination clinics in the coming days. The decision to set up the clinics, which will be held in nine communities across the province, was made after an earlier than expected allocation of 55,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in the province.

“All vaccines approved for use in Canada are safe and all have real-world evidence that they prevent the most serious illness and death caused by COVID-19,” Saskatchewan Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab said. “The right vaccine for you is the one that is available to you.  While Canada has put a pause on offering AstraZeneca to residents younger than 55 until a further safety review is completed, it remains that the risk of adverse effects of all vaccines is very, very low.  The benefits of being vaccinated against COVID-19 far outweigh all risks.”

The clinics will start Friday in Swift Current with a walk-in clinic, and a drive-thru clinic in that city starting on Saturday. A walk-in clinic will open in Weyburn on Saturday, and a drive-thru clinic on Tuesday. A drive-thru clinic will also open in Regina on Saturday.

Sunday, there will be drive-thru clinics available in Prince Albert, Lloydminster and North Battleford, while a drive-thru clinic will open on Monday in Saskatoon. Yorkton will have a drive-thru clinic open on Tuesday. In Moose Jaw, a walk-in clinic opens on Wednesday, and a Drive-Thru clinic on Friday.

The exact hours of operation and the clinic locations in each community will be announced the day before the clinic will open. The walk-in clinic in Swift Current will be held at #6-1061 Central Avenue North from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The drive-thru clinic there will start Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at 801 Cheadle Street West.

The Weyburn walk-in clinic will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Weyburn Curling Club on Saturday. No times or locations have been announced for the Weyburn drive-thru clinic at this time.

Those going to the walk-in or drive-thru clinics will need to bring their health card and identification. Those who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 are being asked to stay home. Those attending the clinics are also being asked to respect public health measures such as mask usage and physical distancing while at the clinic.
