The City of Moose Jaw has saved about $50,000 in the snow removal budget thanks to the warm weather but that cash might be needed to fix potholes instead.

The City of Moose Jaw is saving some of our money thanks to this mild weather.

City snowplows have been parked for a while now but City Engineer Ryan Johnson warns the warm weather could mean bigger expenses come springtime. "Its nice to have the nice weather but the freeze and thaw cycles accelerate the deterioration of the road ways and it creates a lot of ice that is very difficult to deal with."

As well, the ice build up caused by the weather forces the city to send out the sanding trucks more often.

So far, the city has saved $50,000 because of the nice weather or the equivalent of the cost to clean up one snowstorm.
