The Western Hockey League announced today Dakota MacIntosh of the Moose Jaw Warriors has been named Kal Tire WHL Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2023.

The 19-year-old Winnipeg, M.B. product put up five points (2G-3A) in three contests as Moose Jaw went 2-1-0-0 for the week.

MacIntosh earned his first points in a Warriors uniform in a high-flying, 9-6 victory over the Saskatoon Blades on November 14th.

MacIntosh got the secondary assist on Lynden Lakovic’s game-opening powerplay tally. The game was tied at three in the second period when MacIntosh hit the one-timer for his first WHL goal. He’d restore the lead once again four minutes later when he capitalized on a two-one-one opportunity with Brayden Schuurman. MacIntosh also finished the night with a plus-2 rating.

The 6’2, 190-pound winger dished up more helpers in a 7-3 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on November 18. MacIntosh was strong in the neutral zone, tipping the puck ahead to Lynden Lakovic to set up Schuurman’s insurance marker. He closed off the night with the secondary assist on Pavel McKenzie’s goal in the final three seconds of the game.

MacIntosh was originally selected by the Warriors in the ninth round, 192nd overall in the 2019 NHL draft.

He put up 34 points (19G-15A) in 17 games with the Blackfalds Bulldogs and Brooks Bandits of the AJHL this season before joining Warriors in early November. MacIntosh still sits 5th in the AJHL in scoring.

MacIntosh has skated in seven matches with Moose Jaw, which is 3-3-0-1 through those games and remains in the CHL’s Top-10 rankings.

The Warriors are back in action on Friday, November 24th when they host the Swift Current Broncos at 7:00 p.m. ST.
