With a young team, there will be plenty of lessons for the Moose Jaw Warriors to learn this season, even in wins.

After playing a tight game against the top-ranked Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday -- which Moose Jaw lost 4-2 -- the Warriors had a hard practice on Thursday as they prepare for a pair of weekend games.

"There's still a lot to work on coming out of [Wednesday's] game," Warriors captain Josh Brook said after Thursday's workout. "We played hard at times and let off the gas at times, that’s what we've got to learn, we've got to go full throttle the whole time and stick to the game plan."

The Warriors game plan is about puck possession and playing with speed. Brook said the Warriors need to bring more consistency from shift-to-shift for their game plan to be effective.

"It's just about being confident in ourselves to maybe hold onto the puck and make a play instead of dumping it, but we're coming along," said Brook.

"We needed [a hard practice], especially going into this weekend where we have two games, so we're ready."

The Warriors will welcome in the Everett Silvertips to Mosaic Place on Friday night for the only meeting of the season between the two squads.

The Silvertips have gone 2-2 so far on their six-game East Division road trip, which includes a 3-0 loss in Prince Albert on Tuesday and a 3-0 win over the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday.

"They're a hard-working, fast team, we've just got to outwork them and just get to them, don't give them any time and take it to them right off the bat and the whole game," said Brook.

The Warriors and Silvertips square off at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place. The Pre-Game Show is on the air at 6:40 p.m. on Country 100.

On Saturday, the Warriors travel to Medicine Hat to square off with the Tigers for the first time this season.

Brook Enjoys Battling Brother

Warriors captain Josh Brook is in his fourth season in the Western Hockey League and he's had a new experience this season going up against his brother, Jakob Brook of the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Warriors and Raiders have met twice this season with the younger brother, Jakob, coming out on top on the scoreboard in both games.

Josh Brook said they haven't met up much on the ice yet in the two games, "I've only got one shift against him and he tried to run me," he said. "It's been fun though, he's that kind of guy, he wants to run me over, but it's been good."

Jakob, 16, is in his first season with the Raiders. He has three goals and four points through 11 games.

Josh said it's been a cool experience getting to play against him at this level, "It's awesome to see all the work that he's put in to make the WHL," he said.

The next meeting between the Brooks is scheduled for Jan. 4 at the Art Hauser Arena in Prince Albert.
