The Moose Jaw Warriors are bringing back their kids camp for another year and adding a new wrinkle.

In addition to the Kids Camp for ages 5-13, the Warriors will also be hosting an Elite Conditioning camp this year for bantam and midget aged players.

“It's been a great success every year, we've tried to make it a little bit better each year and the kids leave the camp every time learning a little bit and most importantly they had a lot of fun interacting with their favourite Warriors,” said Warriors Assistant Coach Mark O'Leary, who has been running the camp over the past four seasons.

The camps will run from Aug. 14-18 at Mosaic Place with a number of current Warriors hitting the ice to lend their expertise to the young players in attendance.

Having fun and learning some new skills before the start of hockey season is the focus of the Kids Camp.

“We want to accommodated everybody and when you're dealing with kids from five years old to 13, there's kids that have been playing hockey for a long time and there's some that are just beginning,” said O'Leary. “We try to push them to improve over the week and at the same time, the ones that are just beginning, just give them a good experience and help them out the best we can.”

Players will receive two hours of ice time per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, throughout the camp. They will also receive one adult and one child/student ticket voucher for a Warrior game during the 2017-18 season. Each camp attendee also receives a Warriors Hockey Camp jersey.

Registration for the Kids Camp is $320 (plus G.S.T.) and players will be broken up into three age groups: Group Rielly for ages 5-7, Group Brouwer for ages 8-10 and Group Point for ages 11-13.

New this year is the Elite Conditioning Camp, which will allow bantam and midget aged players to hit the ice for a week of high-tempo practices and scrimmages to get ready for their upcoming training camps.

“It will be some high energy, high-tempo practices and scrimmages to get them in the mindset and ready to play their seasons,” said O'Leary. “It will be set up like a practices for the first hour with some high-paced drills and then a scrimmage for the second hour, it's just geared towards players that have been playing for a long time and are looking to get a competitive edge before their season starts.”

Ice times will be from 7-9 p.m. during the the week of Aug.14-17. Registration is $275 (plus G.S.T.) and spaces will be limited.

“We're looking for 20 spots there and I know I've got a few calls to return already with kids interested, so it will fill up fast for sure,” said O'Leary.
