Mixed media artist Antonis Tzanidakis, from Athens, Greece, so coming to Moose Jaw in September and October to hold a series of workshops.

Tzanidakis travels the world teaching mixed media workshops. He will be in Moose Jaw on Sept. 30 with workshops from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Oct. 2 from 1 to 6 p.m. All workshops take place at the Salvation Army Church.

Moose Jaw is the last stop in Tzanidakis’ tour of Canada and his only stop in Saskatchewan.

Organizer Denise Helland explained how popular Tzanidakis is in the mixed media art world.

“Anybody that dabbles or plays or likes art of any sort with mixed media he is, like Elvis was the king of rock and roll, this guy is the king of mixed media,” she said.

Mixed media is an art technique that combines the use of various products including paint, paper, glue, stains and a variety of other products to create artwork.

Those interested in attending the workshops must pre-register by the end of July. There is a registration fee of $125 per workshop. This is a non-profit event, so the fees go towards covering the cost of supplies and the cost to have Tzanidakis come to Moose Jaw.

“I've only got about six spots left in all five workshops (as of Thursday), so they're filling up fast, which has just taken place in the last week,” Helland said.

You can register by calling Helland at 306-691-0238 or emailing dhelland@sasktel.net. No experience is necessary to attend these workshops.
