Lew Young

He has been a resident of Moose Jaw for 35 years, he's been with the public school board for 18, and now he's back for more.

Lew Young was elected to the Moose Jaw Public School Board back in 1994 and was the first to confirm this year that he is running for re-election.

It has been 7 years since the Prairie South School Division amalgamation and Young wants to keep the ball rolling in the right direction.  "One of the things that we have created, and are working very hard on is pre-kindergarten and to have daycares in our schools."

"Where does education start?  Its starts at home but it also starts at a very early age and sometimes with that early age, it helps an awful lot in the future for a student's education."

Other priorities for Young include fiscal responsibility and the assurance that Prairie South is considered a preferred employer for its more than 1,400 employees.

Young is the first candidate to come forward in either the Prairie South of Holy Trinity Divisions.  There are five Prairie South School Board seats up for grabs in the Moose Jaw election with four available in the Holy Trinity School Division.  Just like running for mayor or a seat on council, the application deadline is September 19th for nominations.
