City provides update on Ninth Ave SW repairs
An update was provided to Moose Jaw City Council last week about repairs being made by the Ministry of Highways on Ninth Avenue Southwest. City representatives met with representatives from the Ministry of Highways in October to receive an update. The ministry has completed a temporary road repair on the surface of Ninth Avenue Southwest. The frozen conditions are expected to slow the sloping issue, so the ministry believes the temporary fix will remain good throughout the winter. A heritage assessment is still underway, and the ministry will notify the city and the Wood Mountain Lakota First Nation when the results are available, and the next steps are understood. The Ministry of Highways is targeting to have a tender out in the Spring of 2024 and construction for a permanent fix will begin in the Fall of 2024. There will be no weight restrictions at this time. However, the Ministry of Highways will continue to monitor the location.
