The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde season continued for the Moose Jaw 13U AAA Canucks.

After the coaching staff had told the players they have the skills and ability to beat anyone in the league all year, the boys bought in.

Last night, the Canucks took on the top-ranked, provincial champion, Yorkton Cardinals and came away with a 3-2 victory to advance to the league semifinals.

Kaison Skeoch got the start for the Canucks and didn’t give up a hit until the fourth inning. Skeoch struck out seven in over six innings of work.

Ryan Gibbs took the mound in relief in the sixth inning with two runners on base and none out, but he was able to shut the door on the Yorkton hitters.

With the game tied 2-2 in the top of the seventh, Tyson Ross, the only returning 13U AAA player on Moose Jaw’s roster, hit a solo home run to put the Canucks up by one.

Gibbs, along with solid fielding behind him, kept Yorkton off the scoresheet.

The Canucks are awaiting league confirmation on when and where they will be playing their semifinal matchup.
