The 2021 SaskTel Tankard and the Viterra provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts weren't able to happen this year, so Curl Sask has chosen the province's representation for the national Tim Hortons Brier and Scotties.

Rinks skipped by Sherry Anderson and Matt Dunstone will represent Saskatchewan at the curling bubble in Calgary this year.

The provincial championships have been cancelled due to the pandemic, so points from the last two seasons were used to determine this year's champions.

Curl Sask said in a media release that they had a 'bubble' proposal rejected by the provincial government, exhausting all options for competition.

Dunstone's team includes Braden Moskowy, Kirk Muyres and Dustin Kidby, while the Anderson team includes Nancy Martin, Chaelynn Kitz and Breanne Knapp.

"The National Championships did take place for both Men's and Ladies last season, CURLSASK did not simply choose last year's champions as our representatives. Roster changes are present in both the men’s and women’s past champions. (Team Matt Dunstone retained three members from last season and Team Silvernagle has two returning members.) Therefore, an alternate solution was implemented," said Curl Sask in a media release.

The rationale was to put the teams in a two-season window which included points from last season and the current, extremely short one.

In a statement on Facebook, Silvernagle's team was supportive of Anderson representing Saskatchewan and of Curl Sask.

"This has been a very challenging year for CurlSask navigating through a pandemic and we thank you for going above and beyond during this challenging time," the statement said,

Mike Armstrong and Ashley Quick, last year's provincial mixed doubles champions, will represent the province at the mixed doubles championship.
