The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks finished off their 2017 schedule in style on Thursday night as they skated to a 5-3 road win over the Regina Bisons in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Moose Jaw jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Kaitlyn Gilroy and Keara Merriman midway through the first period.

However, they would end the period down 3-2 after the Bisons powered back with three goals in the final eight minutes of the period. Mackenzie Senger got Regina on the board just 49 seconds after Merriman put Moose Jaw up by two.

Taylor Kiel tied the game only 40 seconds later and then with 2:12 to go in the first, Hunter Bellegarde gave the Bisons the lead.

The Mavericks didn't go away though, Merriman picked up her second of the game with just over eight minutes gone in the second to tie the game up at 3-3 and then with 5:33 to go in the frame, Tia Miller put the Mavericks back in front for good.

Merriman completed the hat trick in the third period to seal the win for Moose Jaw.

The win improves the Mavericks' record to a league-best 14-1-and-0 on the year. They will return to the ice when the calendar flips to 2018 with their next game coming in Regina against the Tigers on Jan. 12.
