High school sports season kicks into high gear on Thursday with local schools in action in three different sports.

Week 2 kicks off in the Moose Jaw High School Football League with the Vanier Vikings battling the Swift Current Colts under the lights in Swift Current.

Vanier dropped their season-opener, falling 38-0 to the Central Cyclones last Saturday at Gutheridge Field. Swift Current opened the year with a hard-fought 21-6 win over the Peacock Tornadoes on Saturday as well.

The game will be carried live on SwiftCurrentOnline.com. The Pre-Game Show is on the air at 6:45 p.m. and kick-off is at 7 p.m.

On the soccer pitch, the Peacock Tornadoes will be hosting the Weyburn Eagles in the Moose Jaw High School Soccer League.

With the dispute between the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association and Saskatchewan Soccer Association settled on Wednesday, games are able to go ahead as normal for the local soccer league.

The Peacock boys are coming off a 4-3 win over Central in their season opener, while the Peacock girls lost 3-0 to Vanier in their opening game last Saturday.

The girls game goes at Sunningdale Field, while the boys game will take place at Smith Field. Both games go at 4:30 p.m.

Thursday night is opening night in the Moose Jaw High School Senior Volleyball League.

The Peacock Toilers will welcome in the Briercrest Christian Academy Cougars for a boys game at 6:20 p.m. and a girls game at 8 p.m.

The games go at the same time over at Cornerstone Christian School where the Falcons will host the Central Cyclones in a doubleheader.

The lone out-of-town game will see the Vanier Vikings travel to Avonlea to take on the Eagles at 7 p.m.
