Team Canada finished off a perfect round robin at the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championships, going 4-0, with a picture perfect 4-1 win over the host Russians on Monday morning.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins continues to pace the offence for Canada, picking up three assists against Russia to move to tournament-leading 11 points in four games.

Canada did everything right in the game as they played disciplined and capitalized on any mistake from the Russians.

After getting stung by five-minute major penalties in the first two games, Canada was able to capitalize on one given to Russia's Valeri Nichushkin, who hit defenceman Tyler Wotherspoon from behind, leading to a power play goal by Dougie Hamilton on an absolute blast from the point and a1-0 lead with 5:57 to go in the first.

Canada was able to extend that lead to 2-0 just 1:54 later when Mark Schiefele drove home the puck for fourth goal of the tournament, but Russia would get on the board before the period was out as Nikita Kucherov scored to make it 2-1 heading into the break.

Everything continued to go Canada's way in the second period as they pressured the Russians looking to restore that two-goal lead.  They got it back 6:30 into the frame when Jonathan Drouin, who was moved up to the first line for the game, scored on a high speed wrap around to make it 3-1 for Canada.

As expected, Russia came out strong in the third and pressured Canada looking to get back into the game, but Canada's defence and goalie Malcolm Subban stayed strong.  Jonathan Huberdeau scored an empty net goal with 28 seconds left to ice the game, and Subban stopped a penalty shot opportunity for Vladimir Tkachyov with 19 seconds remaining for the win.

Canada play excellent throughout the game and were able to throw 48 shots on Russian goalie Andrei Makarov, from the Saskatoon Blades, in the win.  Subban made 21 saves for his fourth win in as many games.

The win secures Canada a berth in the semifinals coming up on Thursday and sends Russia into the quarterfinals on Wednesday where they'll take on Switzerland, who finished third in Group A.  The other quarterfinal game will have the United States, who beat Slovakia 9-3 on Monday morning, taking on the Czech Republic.  Defending champion Sweden has the other bye to the semifinals after finishing first in Group A.
