Ontario’s Rachel Homan rink very clearly got the better of Saskatchewan in Draw 18 Friday afternoon at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts at Mosaic Place.

The Robyn Silvernagle rink didn’t have a lot of things go their way Friday afttrnoon, and with Ontario’s Rachel Homan playing as well as she did, it made for a disappointing afternoon for the North Battleford-based rink.

“We definitely struggled a bit with ice,” Silvernagle said. “Rachel’s team played really really well and didn’t give us a lot of their missed opportunities, and it was a bit of a battle.”

Silvernagle said they were happy to make it to the championship round and will use tonight’s final draw against B.C. to enjoy the crowd and the experience.

“We learned a lot,” she said. “Playing all those tight games, winning some and losing some, you can take away many things even from our team and how we can perform our very best and what we need in order to perform our very best.”

Silvernagle didn’t think they ran out of gas today after a wild 24 hours that saw them win twice and lose one.

“I think we had a lot of rest today,” Silvernagle said. “Last night we definitely ran out of gas. But we were a little fooled on the ice.”

In the other matches in the afternoon draw, Wildcard continued their dominance with a 12-7 win over a tough Kerri Einarson rink, B.C. defeated a struggling Canada rink 9-2, and Northern Ontario defeated P.E.I. 6-5 in a game that went down to the final shot.

Tonight, BC plays Saskatchewan, Northern Ontario faces Wildcard, Ontario is up against Manitoba and Canada plays PEI.

Saturday’s Page playoff order will be decided Friday night.
