Moose Jaw Warriors captain Brett Howden will be spending the holidays in Buffalo, N.Y.

Howden was the named to the final roster for the Canadian junior team, which will take part in the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship, starting on Boxing Day.

The 19-year-old forward scored for Canada in their 5-2 win over Denmark to close out the Selection Camp on Friday.

This will be the fifth time that Howden has represented Canada at an international tournament after playing for his country at World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup once each, and the World Under-18 Hockey Championship twice.

There’s eight players from the Western Hockey League, including four from the East Division with Brandon’s Kale Clague, Regina’s Sam Steel and Swift Current’s Tyler Steenbergen.

Canada will play the Czech Republic on Wednesday in London, Ont. and Switzerland on Friday in Hamilton, Ont. in pre-tournament games.

The World Juniors open on Boxing Day with Canada squaring off with Finland.
