Three coach of the year nominations, three home playoff games, three Grey Cup appearances, and one Grey Cup win in 2007, Ken Miller's resume is extensive in his short time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The 70-year-old Miller announced on Monday afternoon following the Riders practice at Mosaic Stadium that he would be stepping down as vice-president of football operations and head coach at the end of the season.

"This is my final season as head coach and administrator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.  Upon completion of my duties at the end of the season, I'm going to entre retirement," said Miller during a media conference at Mosaic Stadium.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity I've had to work with the men who wear the Roughrider uniform and occupy our locker room.  These men, the Roughrider players, have done their best to keep me young.  They have made me laugh, they have made me cry, I believe in them and care for each of them individually."

President and CEO Jim Hopson says it's difficult to put into words what Miller has meant to the Rider organization, "I very much appreciate what he has brought to us and he will continue to be the standard by which we judge ourselves in many ways."

Quarterback Darian Durant says it's tough to see Miller go because he gave him his first shot in the league, "He definitely holds a special place in my heart and means so much to me.  He gave me my first shot and he stuck with me throughout and throughout that time, it's allowed myself and this team to go places that it hasn't been before."

Miller had this message for Rider Nation,"I thank the fans of Rider Nation, wherever you are.  Fans are suppose to be involved, I appalled your fervour and I appreciate your fanaticism.  It is great for me to work in place where so many people care as much as you do about what I do."

Miller retires in fifth place on Saskatchewan's all-time wins list.  His final game will be on Friday when the Riders head to Edmonton.
