The 2017 Basketball Canada 15-and-under National Championships opened up in Regina on Monday.

Moose Jaw’s Quinton Ross and Team Saskatchewan hit the court against Nova Scotia in their opening game, falling 94-81, at the University of Regina.

Ross had seven points and two rebounds in 13:56 of playing time in the opening game.

Joshua Soifer led Saskatchewan with 17 points in the loss, while Nova Scotia’s Jonah Mosher posted a game-high 25 points in the win.

Saskatchewan will return to the court on Tuesday to battle Ontario at 11:15 a.m.

On the girls side, Saskatchewan opened with a 67-64 win over Alberta on Monday night. They will be back in action on Tuesday morning against Nova Scotia at 9 a.m.
