Sunday was a big day for the Assiniboia Southern Rebels as they finally got an edge on the Prairie Storm in the Prairie Junior Hockey League's South Division standings.

The Rebels went into Pense and knocked off the Silver Foxes, 7-5, and that win moved them two points up on the Storm for first place in the Division.

Tucker Neuberger and Kaelum Bieber led the Rebels in the win, each scoring twice and adding an assist.

The Rebels built up a 4-1 lead in the first period thanks to an opening goal from Logan Skinner followed by markers from Bieber and a pair from Neuberger.

The Silver Foxes made it a one goal game in the second period however with Andrew Parker scoring twice to make it 4-3 after two.

Riley Malone and Bryan Polmear gave the Rebels some breathing room early in the third period with goals just under three minutes apart.  They needed it because the Silver Foxes responded with a goal of their own just 18 seconds after Polmear's to make it 6-4.  They cut the lead back down to one midway through the frame with Drew Kocur scoring for Pense.

Bieber sealed the win for the Rebels in the final two minutes with his second of the night.

Nate Ferris made 27 saves in the win for the Rebels.

The Rebels now sit two points up on the Storm for first in the PJHL's South Division with a 21-6-1 record.

The Rebels and Silver Foxes have a rematch coming up on Wednesday in Assiniboia.
