Hockey Hall of Fame member Doug Gilmour will be in Moose Jaw on February 1st.

For the past 21 years, the Kinsmen Club of Moose Jaw has brought in top notch talent for their annual K+S Potash Canada Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Banquet.

This year is no different as they continue to push the level of the event even higher with an all-star lineup being brought in for Saturday, February 1st at the Heritage Inn.

Hockey Hall of Fame member Doug Gilmour will be the headliner at this year's event, while he's being joined by a member of the Toronto Blue Jays' World Series team, Devon “Devo” White, as well as three-time Grey Cup champion Geroy Simon.

Sportsnet's Scott Morrison will be serving as the master of ceremonies.

“It's pretty huge for us,” said Kirk Olson, event chairman.  “We're excited to see the guys come and hear them, and it should be a good night overall.”

The event will cover three major sports with the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball and Canadian Football League all being represented.  Gilmour will be the big draw however, being a beloved member of Leafs' Nation and winning a Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames.

“He put up some pretty good stats and there are quite a few fans out here that are waiting to see him come, so it should be a pretty good night,” said Olson.

Gilmour finished his career with 450 goals and 1414 points in 1474 games with the St. Louis Blues, Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens.  His number 93 has been honoured by the Leafs and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.

White played five seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, starting in 1990.  He would go on to win two World Series titles with the team and five Gold Gloves.  He finished his 17-year career with seven Gold Glove awards, a career average of .270 and he would go on to win another World Series in 1997 with the Florida Marlins.

Simon is coming off his third Grey Cup championship in 2013 during his first season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.  The slotback is best known for his years with the BC Lions where he broke the single season receiving record and the CFL career receiving yards record.  This year, he broke the CFL all-time receptions record.

The event is more than just the guest speakers however with the focus being fundraising for the local Kinsmen Club.  The Sports Celebrity Banquet is the biggest event of the year for the local group and continues to grow thanks to help from title sponsor K+S Potash Canada.

“Every year we provide assistance to such benefactors as the Kinsmen Flying Fins, the Kinsmen Wrestling Club, the Kinsmen pool and arena, Kinsmen Lacrosse and now the newly formed chapter of KidSport,” explained Olson.

“We're trying to put money back out into the community.  100 percent of the money raised from this dinner will go back into the community.”

Close to $50,000 was raised last year and over $200,000 has been put back into the community through the event.

“It's been a huge success every year and just keeps getting bigger and bigger,” added Olson.

Tickets for the Sports Celebrity Banquet are on sale now for $150 each with corporate tables of eight available.  For tickets, call or text Cory Olafson at 306-631-8893 or Kirk Olson at 306-631-3987.
