Swift Current scored three goals in the third period to break a 5-5 tie and went on to hand the Moose Jaw Warriors an 8-5 loss at the Subway WHL Hub Thursday in Regina.

Moose Jaw got the start that they wanted when they picked up a goal from Jagger Firkus just over a minute into the opening period.

However, the Broncos were able to create turnovers and used their speed to attack the Moose Jaw net which led to three goals less than four minutes apart starting at the 5:49 mark.

Moose Jaw was able to pull back to within one at 15:22 when Calder Anderson rammed in his second of the season.  Swift Current went back up by two in the final two minutes when Kaleb Bulych scored on a Broncos rush.

Down a pair to start the second, the Warriors landed on a two-man advantage for 1:47 just over a minute into the period.  Moose Jaw took this opportunity to set up a shot for Captain Daemon Hunt, his fifth goal of the year pulled them to within one.

On the penalty kill and inside their zone with 6:10 remaining, Calder Anderson rimmed the puck off the glass and it carried down the ice.  Atley Calvert settled the puck down which led to a shorthanded breakaway that he finished with his first goal of the season to tie the game at four.

Inside the final two minutes of the period and back on the power play, Logan Doust took a shot from inside the left circle that went off Brad Ginnell and over the goal line to give Moose Jaw a 5-4 lead.

Swift Current responded just over a minute later and with 19 seconds left in the period, as a goal from Owen Pickering tied the game at five heading to the second intermission.

Three minutes into the third period the teams found themselves playing four-on-four.  Swift Current used the open ice to their advantage, setting up Mathew Ward inside the right circle where he scored the Broncos go-ahead goal.

At 11:16, Swift Current Aiden Bulych scored on an odd-man rush to give the Broncos some breathing room.  They put the game away with an empty-net goal inside the final minute of regulation.

Calder Anderson, Brad Ginnell, and Atley Calvert had a goal and two points each for the Warriors.  Michael Farren and Aiden Bulych had a goal and three points each for the Broncos.

Moose Jaw finished 2-for-4 on the power-play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

Winless in the last six games, the Warriors return to action Friday when they take on the first-place Saskatoon Blades.  Catch all the action on Country 100 starting at 7:40 pm.
