The Moose Jaw Warriors created opportunities and outshot the Prince Albert Raiders, but the visitors finished on their chances and handed the Warriors a 5-1 loss Saturday at Mosaic Place.

Throughout the first period, the Warriors were not intimidated by the East Division leaders. They did a good job battling in the offensive zone which led to an 11-5 advantage on the shot clock.

Despite being outshot, the Raiders picked up the game’s first goal when they came up with the ice quickly in transition. Cole Nagy made a cross-ice pass from the bottom left circle to Michael Horon on the right-wing who tapped the puck in at 3:16.

Prince Albert used their power-play to increase their lead at 10:14 when Horon knocked in another goal on the right side of the Moose Jaw net.

Moose Jaw pressed inside the final minute of the period and with 37 seconds left in the frame, they were rewarded.

Owen Hardy dug the puck out of the left corner and muscled his way to the net where he jammed in his team-leading 14th goal, which ended being the Warriors 2019 Teddy Bear Toss goal.

When play picked back up in the second period, the Warriors had an early power-play but unfortunately, a turnover led to rush for the Raiders that finished with a goal by Evan Herman.

Prince Albert went up by three at 7:14 when Ozzy Wiesblatt let another rush across the Moose Jaw blueline and set up Tyson Laventure on the left-wing where he scored the Raiders fourth goal.

In the third period, the Raiders added another goal and went on to beat the Warriors 5-1 and push their winless streak to nine games.

Moose Jaw outshot the Raiders 29-27, they were 0-for-6 on the power-play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Warriors are off until Tuesday when they will open the final week before the Christmas break with their only meeting of the season against the Kamloops Blazers. Tickets are available at the Mosaic Place Box Office or online at www.mjwarriors.ca.
