There’s was plenty of offense to end the Moose Jaw Warriors' 2017 Training Camp as Team White scored five goals in the first, added three in the third and went on to an 8-5 over Team Black in the annual Intersquad Game.

Last year's leading scorer Jayden Halbgewachs led the charge with four goals in the first period and Justin Almeida added a goal and four points to help lead Team White to the win.

Goals came fast and furious early in the opening frame as Halbgewachs scored the game’s first goal at 2:19 for Team White, then just under a minute later Tristin Langan tied the game at one.

Halbgewachs gave Team White the lead at 4:58, but Langan answered right back with another goal under a minute later to tie the game at two.

Just in front of the seven minute mark. the puck sat in the Team Black crease where Chantz Petruic whacked it over the goal line to give Team White the lead. Team White went up by two at 11:30 when Halbgewachs scored his hat trick goal and three minutes later, he scored his fourth of the period to make it 5-2.

Team Black was able to respond with three minutes left in the first period, when a Josh Brook wrist shot found its way through traffic and past goalie Adam Evanoff.

The teams exchanged opportunities throughout the early stages of the second period and Team Black found momentum just past the midway point on a goal from Luka Burzan, then with just over six minutes left in the period, Cameron Sterling tossed the puck in to tie the game at five.

Team White went back out on top just over four minutes in to the third period when Justin Almeida pounced on a neutral zone turnover and ripped a shot past Ethan Fitzgerald.

In the final four minutes, Team White added goals from Bryce Anderson and Chantz Petruic and went on to an 8-5 win.

2017 draft pick Jackson Berry started for Team Black and turned away 20 shots, while Adam Evanoff started for Team White, making 18 saves.

After 30 minutes, Ethan Fitzgerald came in for Team Black, stopping seven shots, while Carl Tetachuk entered for Team White and made 24 saves.

With training camp now in the rear view mirror, the Warriors will prepare for Tuesday’s annual Rookie Game against the Swift Current Broncos at Mosaic Place.

Admission for Tuesday’s game will be by donation with the proceeds going to the Canadian Mental Health Association in memory of Ethan Williams.
