We're in the preparation stages of an annual Christmas tradition in Moose Jaw.

Registration is now being accepted for this year's Santa Claus Parade, and those interested must submit an application. There's also a small list of criteria that participants must follow, including that all vehicles must be decorated, no floats are permitted to have a Santa and candy must be handed out by someone walking as it cannot be thrown from moving vehicles.

"I'm in the truck that pulls Santa every year and it's fantastic to see the amount of people that come out to this thing; it's overwhelming really," explained Cory Olafson, a member of the Kinsmen Club that has been hosting the parade for over a decade.

And with a new season comes a new route for the annual parade, where participants and their floats will start from the old Zellers parking lot and will continue down Main Street before stopping at Mosaic Place.

"There won't be a 'lights on ceremony' so to speak, but there's going to be a set up for Santa to address the crowd, Mayor Fraser Tolmie is going to address the crowd. Hot chocolate and cookies are all going to be out there instead of in Zion church as before. It's going to be awesome; we're looking forward to the change a lot."

The parade will take place on December 2nd at 6 pm.
