The Saskatchewan Health Authority says there was a risk of exposure to Hepatitis A at the Shoppers Drug Mart in the Centre Mall on 8th Street in Saskatoon. Anyone who purchased food and drinks between February 27th through March 19th may have been exposed, during the times listed below.

If you purchased items food and beverage items using a cashier on the dates listed, contact HealthLine 811 for instructions. Anyone with exposure within the past 14 days may be eligible for Hepatitis A vaccine. The SHA says while the risk of transmission is low, hepatitis is a serious disease.

Exposure to Hepatitis A may have occurred during the following times:

  • Tuesday, February 27 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 29 from 3:45 p.m. – 12:15 a.m.
  • Friday, March 1 from 3:45 p.m. – 12:15 a.m.
  • Monday, March 4 from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 5 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 12 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Friday, March 15 from 4:00 p.m. – 12:15 a.m.
  • Monday, March 18 from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 19 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Hepatitis A is a liver infection caused by a virus that is spread by ingesting something that has been contaminated with the stool (feces) of someone who has the disease. It can cause the following symptoms: loss of appetite, dark urine, light stool, tiredness, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes). Serious complications may include liver failure and death.
