The Moose Jaw 18U AA Canucks are in a skid after they dropped their fourth straight game on Saturday.

A slow start cost the Canucks in a 10-3 loss to the Weyburn Beavers at Ross Wells Park, dropping their record to 5-5 this season in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League.

"We could have definitely done better than we did today," said Bohden Bellows with the Canucks. "Our heads weren't in the game at the start, we were making mental errors, we definitely could have improved on that."

After a 5-1 start to the season, the Canucks have dropped four straight to fall to .500 on the season. Bellows said they need to come ready to play each game.

"Our mental game is really not doing well right now, we need to focus more, we're not doing the right things," said Bellows. "We need to practice some more and get back into a groove again."

Some miscues from the Canucks and hard-hit balls from the Beavers allowed them to jump out to a 5-0 lead after two innings.

Moose Jaw cut into the lead when Bellows stole home and then Riley Skarbon smacked a double to the centre field wall to score Cole Breitkruez from second to make it 5-2.

The Canucks momentum was stopped by a half-hour rain delay and the Beavers returned from the break to score two more in the top of the fourth to take a 7-2 advantage.

Weyburn added three more runs in the top of the sixth, which the Canucks followed up by tacking on one run in the bottom half before going down in order in the seventh to end the game.

Jeremy Kohl allowed seven runs -- four earned -- on eight hits and three walks over the opening four innings of the game. He struck out a pair.

Jake Kindiak finished the game for the Canucks, surrendering three runs on four hits and one walk in three innings. He had one strikeout.

Skarbon was 1-for-3 with an RBI double, while Bellows went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Breitkruez was 1-for-1 with a run, a walk and a hit-by-pitch.

The Canucks will look to snap their four-game skid when they head into Regina to face the Blue Jays on Monday night. First pitch is at 6:15 p.m.
