Saskatchewan job numbers for 2006 are coming in and they show some significant growths over previous record years.

Year-end job numbers for 2006 are in and they are better than ever.

More than 491 thousand 600 people were working in 2006 breaking the previous record of 483 thousand 500 set in 2005.

Local MLA Glenn Hagel says job numbers are up in a number of areas. "Last month Saskatchewan job numbers were up in oil and gas as well as mining, agriculture, construction, finance, insurance, and real estate... Saskatchewan's employment levels have set record highs for the last nine months and that's translated into 2006 seeing more people employed than at any time in the history of Saskatchewan."

2006 marked the fourth straight year the province has set annual job records.
