Applications are now being accepted for the City of Moose Jaw Heritage Advisory Committee’s Veterans Banner Program.

The program was launched last year, and it recognizes community members who are currently serving or have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Commonwealth, its wartime allies, as a Peace Officer in a special duty area or on a special duty operation or has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command during wartime. Any veteran with a connection to Moose Jaw or the surrounding area can be portrayed on the banners.

Veterans still living must provide their consent for the banner to be hung.

A maximum of 49 veterans banners hung on light poles along Main Street and in the downtown core during the month of November.

Individuals, families, organizations or companies can purchase a banner at a cost of $330 and it will be displayed for a three-year term. The cost includes the banner production, shipping and annual installation and removal. At the end of the term, the banner will be returned to the purchaser.

More details about the programs and applications forms can be found on the City of Moose Jaw website. The deadline for applications is April 5.
