The community has come up big for Moose Jaw Little League over the last week.

Last weekend, ten cents from every litre of gas purchased from Moose Jaw Co-op Gas Bars went to Moose Jaw Little League with the final donation total being $30,000 to the local organization.

“That was amazing,” said Little League President Brett Payne. “Moose Jaw really helped us out a lot by coming to the pumps and it's really great to have those funds.”

The funds that were raised will be going towards building a new bathroom and storage facility at Bell Park on the east side of the city. Payne said it's something that's really needed.

“The current one isn't in good shape, it hasn't been touched in a while,” said Payne. “We're hoping to put our hands on it and get it fixed up.”

Work on the new facility will start at the end of this season.

Later in the week, the Kinsmen Club of Moose Jaw continued their support of Moose Jaw Little League with a $1,000 donation to help purchase some more jerseys for the Senior and Junior Rookie Divisions.

“We had a lot of extra kids this year, so it helps us out a lot,” Payne said.

“The Kinsmen sponsored the whole division two years ago and bought every kid a new jersey, so they've been great.”

Moose Jaw Little League has been growing over the past few years with over 450 kids playing baseball with the organization this season.
