It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest Kinsmen Sidewalk Days festivals ever to take place in Moose Jaw.

The festivities get underway on Main Street North today at 10 a.m. with everything from entertainment, food, shopping and much more until Saturday.

There were 249 vendor spaces available for this year’s event, and all of them were sold out.

“What I love is the incredible diversity of our vendors this year. I’ve never seen as many clothing vendors as we’ve had, crafting vendors, so I think it’s going to be busy. We can tell you that much for sure,” said Tourism Moose Jaw Executive Director Jacki L’Heureux Mason.

Once again, the Moose Jaw Ford Children’s Village is taking place its in front of Victory Church, meaning there will be entertainment for all age groups.

“We have it all sectioned off right in front of Victory Church for the Moose Jaw Ford Children’s Village. Again, it’s as big as we’ve ever had it. So, that’s a great place for you to bring your kids from two to probably 10 or 12 years old,” L’Heureux Mason said.

New this year will be the Deja Vu Duel Zone at the intersection of Main Street and High Street. This area is for older kids and those young at heart. It includes four-person jousting and a bungee run course.

Another new feature will be the Kinsmen Sidewalk Days Scavenger Hunt sponsored by Discover Moose Jaw. Details will be released shortly, but it will have festival participants meeting with sponsors and a chance to win prizes.

Live entertainment and bands will be performing at the Grant Hall Main Stage and the John’s Music Stage throughout the weekend.

“I’ve been focusing on the entertainment, getting that schedule all sorted. We have a great lineup. This year’s headliners are Trick Rider, the Tilted Kilts as well as Lights Out and the Uncoolas. On Saturday, afternoon, we have our battle of the bands brought to you by Water Vision. We are so excited. We have four bands competing and they’re so talented,” said summer events coordinator Paige McClinton.

The Royal Canadian Air Force announced a series of flybys from 15 Wing during Sidewalk Days. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be conducting flyovers at 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Harvard II aircraft will fly over later in the afternoon on Thursday and Friday. Announcements will be made 20 minutes before the flyover takes place.
