The Moose Jaw Canucks and Mallards both rolled to big wins on Sunday afternoon as they continue their hot starts to the season.

Canucks Remain Undefeated; Down North Battleford

The Canucks are a perfect 5-0 on the year and continue to dominate the competition in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League’s Midget AA division after scoring a 14-4 win over the North Battleford Beavers on Sunday.

Raine Eberl and Bryden Pow both went 3-for-4 in the win for the Canucks, while Pow and Garrick Ward drove in two runs each.

The Canucks belted 13 hits in the win and continue to play strong defence with no errors in the win.

Eberl started for the Canucks and ended up going three innings, allowing one run on no hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Ryan Zerff also pitched three innings and struck out two, while allowing one run on one hit.

Mallards Sweep Doubleheader in Yorkton

The Mallards have been rolling since dropping their season-opener last week with three straight lopsided wins since then.

They picked up a pair of wins over the Yorkton Cardinals on Sunday, rolling to an 18-1 win in the first half of the doubleheader and then picking up a 12-9 win in the second half of the double bill.

Riley Skarbon put together a strong outing on the mound in the first game, allowing just one run over four innings of work.

Rylan Watson belted a three-run bomb in the win.

In the second game, the bats were working early for the Mallards and that was enough to hold onto the three-run win.

Jeremy Kohl started for the Mallards in the second game and exited in the third inning with an 11-3 lead.

Evan Callaghan reached base in all three at-bats in the second game and came around to score three runs.

The Mallards are now 3-1 on the year. They return to the field on Tuesday when they host Regina at Swarbrick Diamond.

Regals Drop Pair to Open Season

The Regals will be back on the field on Sunday when they host the Regina Angels at Ross Wells Park for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
