It was a day I'll never forget.

The Voice of the Moose Jaw Warriors James Gallo and Marc Smith, who's in charge of Web & Digital Services with our hockey club, brought the Ed Chynoweth Cup to the radio station.

James calls the games on our station, Country 100 - 100.7 FM. Just about everyone who works here plays at least a small part in that.

Our entire team had an opportunity to get a photo with the trophy which our Warriors won for a first time in their 40 years in Moose Jaw.

No one was allowed to hoist the cup.

James explained that that is something reserved for people who actually played a role in winning the championship like players, coaches, managers, scouts and hockey club staff.

So, I hesitated when he handed the trophy to me to hold for a photo because I know the protocol.

But James just chuckled and said, "You paid your dues", referring to the fact I rode the team bus and called close to 1000 games on the radio from 1986 through 2001.

My only contribution to this year's championship was joining in on a number of standing ovations but, for the club to make me feel like I was part of it made me feel pretty special.
