The Western Development Museum gave kids a chance to see what the holidays was like back in the 1900's with "Christmas Long Ago."

"They got to see what sorts of gifts were given, some traditions that have maybe stayed the same after all those year," said Karla Rasmussen, the Education/Public Programs Coordinator at the WDM. "Maybe some things that have changed. Then they got to make an old fashioned craft afterwards."

The WDM let people step into the shoes of those families and kids, and see what it would have been like to receive gifts over 100 years ago.

"Just to kind of see the daily life that was different leading up to Christmas as well," Rasmussen said. "You know, grandpa goes to the blacksmith's shop to get the kids skates sharpened before they come."

The WDM held "Christmas Long Ago" on the 23rd and the 16th, with both sessions filling up to capacity with eager kids.
