The Briercrest Clippers men's hockey team will be honouring one of their own on Friday night as they begin their alumni weekend.

Former Briercrest Clipper Darcy Haugan will have his number-22 retired during an open ceremony dedicated to the Haugan family and Darcy’s memory.

Haugan and 15 others were killed when a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos collided with a semi-trailer on Apr. 6.

According to Rob Schellenberg, Chief Athletic Officer at Briercrest College, even though Haugan was the leading scorer in the school’s history, it will be the man himself and his time spent at the school that will be honoured during the ceremony.

The ceremony will get underway at 7 p.m. at the Barkman Arena. The Clippers will take on the U of A Augustana Vikings in ACAC action afterwards.
