City Council is holding its regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 26 and has three major topics on the agenda.

Scheduled to be discussed is the termination of the lease agreement between the City of Moose Jaw and the YMCA.

Council will discuss three options for the building: demolition, distribute a request for proposals from potential long-term renters, or assign the Parks and Recreation Department to take over operation and programming at the facility.

There is extensive work required to update the facility, including replacing windows, installing new bathroom and shower facilities, and electrical work.

Another important topic of discussion will be payments made to Hicks, Morley, Hamilton, and Stewart in the process of labour board disputes between the City of Moose Jaw and the  Moose Jaw Fire Department.

Since March 2016, the City has used the firm's services three times in disputes with the Moose Jaw Fire Department, with costs amounting to a total of $87,788.62.

A miscellaneous cost payment of $518.70 was also made to the firm in 2017.

Council is also scheduled to discuss several questions about the 2018 Financial Statements that were asked at the Council meeting on July 22.

Those questions regard transit rates, budgeting and audited financial statements, residential garbage collection, and the landfill replacement reserve.

The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm.
