Safeway robber enters guilty plea while alleged gang members walks away after charges were dropped by the Crown.

The man who held up the Safeway Gas Bar last month has pled guilty to his involvement in the crime.

22 year old Allen Hunter entered the plea this week and will be sentenced October 16th.

Back on July 30th, two people apparently entered the gas bar, produced a knife and stole cash along with cigarettes. Hunter was arrested a short time later while trying to steal a car.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested in the case but has pled not guilty and will be back in court next month.

You might remember a story about an alleged member of the Hell's Angels being arrested at a local bar back in June.

He was facing a charge relating to the alleged wearing of gang colours in a licensed establishment. Well, the Crown is withdrawing the charge under the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Act.

34 year old Richard Bandet managed to get an early trial date, and there was not enough time for the Crown to get its case together.

Crown Prosecutor Rob Parker says the defence would have objected to adjourning the trial to a later date and the Crown felt withdrawing it was its only option.
