Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.

According to Environment Canada, thunderstorms are developing today as an upper-level disturbance tracks its way through southwestern areas of Saskatchewan. Some of these storms could be severe.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.

The severe thunderstorm warning for the Buffalo Pound, Tuxford, Marquis, Brownlee and Eyebrow area has ended.

If threatening weather approaches, Environment Canada is reminding residents to take cover immediately.
